Today's adventure was to York River and Smelt Brook in York, Maine. On this trip, we rode the incoming tide to see how far up each river or brook we could go. Kayaking past the grasses made for endless visual and audial entertainment on this lazy summer afternoon of a Labor Day weekend.

Today's adventure was to the Scarborough Marsh area in Scarborough, Maine. It was wonderful to be surrounded by so many shorebirds, and resulted in the some of the closest encounters I've had with most of the species you'll see in the photography and video.

Motorized Kayaks that can go all day, even at full throttle

After motor-kayaking the West Shirley Bog for Moose in the morning, I added Bald Mountain Pond to the list. It wasn't easy to find, but now I know how to get there! It is a true wilderness experience, with only one barely visible structure on the shore, and on the day of my visit, my only company were a couple of through hikers at the Appalachian Trail camp site at the far Northwest end of the lake.

On-water Photography / Videography with a Huge Success Rate

I was blown away by the results of some photo/video shoots from the West Shirley Bog the other day. The combination of gear that I was using resulted in the greatest success rate (i.e., number of keepers) that I've ever had by a wide margin. There just isn't anything else that compares to what this kayak rig can do.
